First National Real Estate 4th Friday Pairs – 25 August 2023
The final winter’s Friday bowls day attracted 32 bowlers. It was a beautiful sunny day with light winds. We had 16 teams playing 2x4x2. All teams 3 games of 8 ends.
Michael Buckley from First National Real Estate was able to join us today (as usual) and we extended him a big warm welcome. Michael gave us a market update on Real Estate in the Forest. We very much appreciate FNRE the forest sponsorship for today’s and the 2nd Friday of the month bowls.
Today’s jackpot was worth $240 which had to go off and the lucky, if not controversial, winner was Rody Manning. Rody shared the prize with the other players in the first game Ross Stevens, Harvey Bowen and Grahame Stewart. Rody had to leave early however Grahame Stewart was left in custody of his share of the winnings. Grahame ignored numerous requests to put Rody’s share of the winnings on the bar. You owe him big time Rody.
Two teams had 3 wins today and 2 had two wins and a draw.
Special mention should be made of the 4th placed group of Kay King and Lorraine Hazard who had 2 wins, 1 draw and 14 ends. For this strong effort they received “0”.
Third Place winners with 2 wins, 1 draw and 16 ends won was Lynn and Max Gray who each received a bottle of wine.
Second place winners with 3 wins 14 ends and a margin of +5 was Julie Baker and Wayne Morris and they shared $30.
To add to the controversy of the jackpot draw the First place winners with 3 wins 14 ends and a huge margin of +21 was Geoff Godfrey and John Tomlinson who shared $60. I’m sure this pair will be heavily handicapped next start.
