Friday Bowls

Belrose Chemist Triples 18 Mar 2022

A cracker of a day saw 38 bowlers pay up to play in the Belrose Triples. As 38 is not divisible by six, eight played winners and losers Pairs while 10 teams of Trips fought it out for the prizes on offer.

Once again, a decent number of visitors joined the fun from 8 different clubs and their varied uniforms highlighted the diversity on the greens. Talking of greens, they were in immaculate condition despite the heavy rains of previous weeks, testament to the hard work of Rowdy and Joe.

A first-time bowler, Finlay Shepherd, received his name badge, but more about him later. Alex Gregg another new bowler also participated.

A raffle was held yielding a revenue of $127 before the cost of prizes is deducted. A profitable venture.

The winners of the day were surprisingly the team of Pairs, David Smith and the newcomer, Finlay Shepherd. One suspects that Finlay has been bowling before as he and David won 17 of the 22 ends they played. They shared the First prize of $90.

The other prizewinner was the Trips team of Ken Pride, Kevin Toovey and Peter Spray. The team of Hank Sato, Richard Lewis and Max Turnbull got close but not close enough to feature in the awards.

The jackpot went off with $80 shared between Karen Lees, Garry Bradbury, Wayne Morris, Bill Pretty, John Delaney and Kevin Keller.
