First National Real Estate 2nd Friday Pairs – 12 Jan 2024
A hot and humid day for bowls attracted 36 bowlers. We had 18 teams playing 3 bowl pairs. All teams played 3 games of 9 ends. Needless to say we all needed a few cleansing beverages after the game.
Michael Buckley from First National Real Estate was able to join us today (as usual) and we extended him a big warm welcome. Michael extended his best wishes for 2024 to all and gave us a quick market update on Real Estate in the Forest. We very much appreciate FNRE the forest sponsorship for today’s and the 4nd Friday of the month bowls.
Today’s jackpot was worth $240 and had to go off and the lucky winner was Lyn Gray. Lyn shared the prize with the other players in the first game Max Gray, and when the other team sharing was Ian Tink and Neil Mills. The announcement of Tinky and Millsy as winners was met with disbelief from the crowd.
Four teams had 3 wins today.
Special mention is made of the 4th placed group of Janice and Frank Grubisich who had 3 wins , 14 ends. For this strong effort they received “0”.
Third Place winners with 3 wins and 15 ends won was Kevin Toovey and Ken Alderton who each received a fine bottle of vintage wine from the club cellar.
First and Second place both had 3 wins and 19 ends won and the final placing went down to margins.
Second place winners with 3 wins 19 ends and a margin of +18 was Kay King and Lorraine Hazzard who shared $30.
First place winners with 3 wins 19 ends and an incredible margin of +31 was David I Smith and Julian Toohey who shared $60. I’m sure this pair will be heavily handicapped next start.
Today’s helpers of Geoff, Ian (Tinky) Tink, David and Mike are thanked for all their efforts. Peter from Forestville also chipped in and helped with the cards.
Next Friday is 3 bowl triples of 2 games of 11 ends sponsored by Belrose Chemist.
