Twilight Bowls – Belrose v Asquith – Round 2 1 Mar 2023

This evening it was Round 2 of the “Twilight Original Series” – Belrose Bulls v Asquith Kangaroos – hosted by Belrose. 

Asquith were the winners in Round 1 played on the Roos top paddock. Round 2 was a reversal with Belrose the winners playing at our well maintained Bull pens. 

The evenings result was a win to Belrose. Although it was a very fitting drawn series it was decided to hold a shoot out to decide the overall winners & 2023 trophy holders. 

It was a corner to corner 1 bowl shoot out between Mark (Belrose) & Tony (Asquith). The pressure was on these two with 96 bowlers plus a number of supporters eagerly awaiting the result. 

Their first bowls were illegal with one in the ditch & the other short. Maybe it was intentional to maintain the excitement (that’s their excuse!!). Their second attempts were legal with Mark’s bowl just holding shot.  Therefore Belrose will hold the trophy for the inaugural Twilight Origin Series. 

A special thanks to everyone involved in all the hard work in organising such a great series. Drakes Pride were very generous to both clubs providing many items for prizes – thank you very much. Both rounds went off seamlessly. All Games were played in the true spirit of sportsmanship & friendship. 

The support from all the bowlers involved in this series & also the regular weekly twilight evenings at both Clubs is greatly appreciated.
