Twilight Bowls 26 Oct 2022
Its Late October 2022 and Belrose enjoys its first day of Spring with temperatures topping 28 degrees during the day.
Twilight bowls @ Belrose kicked of this evening at 6pm sharp with a record 46 bowlers.
5 games of fours and 1 game of triples.
Moments into the first end a shout comes from rink no. 2 – “toucher”!
Nearly simultaneously, another shout of “toucher” rang out from rink 4.
Too late. Gerry Vicary scored first toucher for the night and won the first Toucher Prize.
As the evening progressed, the sunset was spectacular across the Davidson valley and new bowler Darryl from rink 4 won the Golfers meat tray.
Cheryl, Lisa and Bec all enjoyed their first night of Bowls and performed valiantly for their teams.
Cheryl’s first ever bowl was close to a resting toucher – a natural.
A stray bowl from Rink 5 sailed off the green and into the clubs windows shaking the Trivia players directly inside. Bet they didn’t know the answer to that one…
8pm came along too quickly and as the rinks started packing up it became clear that the Johnson Family on Rink 4 had propped up their skip to comprehensively win the night.
It was agreed that Tom Johnson was the defining factor on this rink, well done Tom.
Runners up with a Margin of 8 went to Paul and Therese Bodie and Dawn and John Delany.
With 6 teams scoring margins from 2 to 18, the numbers were put in the raffle machine and the button pressed for the chance to win the $288 Jackpot.
Lisa from rink no.2 pressed the button and the machine stopped on number 8…
Winner Winner!!! Jackpot won on second week..
The Jackpot goes to Paul and Therese Bodie and Dawn and John Delany and to Matt Brain, Janice Grubisich, Rody Manning and Paul Stracey! Congratulations.
The Jackpot resets next week to $200.
At the end of the presentation we were treated to a vintage Crowie joke which made a few of us blush.
A big thank you to all bowlers tonight especially all the new bowlers.
Congratulations to Rody Manning and Mark Bowen for putting together such an enjoyable night.
See you next week.
