Patricia Tan Wins District Singles – 2016
A Great result for the Belrose Ladies Bowling Club today.
Patricia Tan stormed home to win the match against Di McBryde of St Ives 25 – 14. Billie Maas was also successful over Julie Hayden of Mosman winning 25 – 10.
The day started as it finished with the weather. Patchy cloud a slight but very cool south easter and occasional glimpses of sunshine. All was set for a great afternoon of bowls, The green was running at 14 to move on to 16 seconds by the end of play. Thankfully there was no rain what so ever.
There were some fifty spectators sprinkled around the ‘view lounge’ and also out around the green. The match was played on rink 17. Officials from District were Cathrine Ryan and Marianne Coningsby with Michelle Treadwell as the umpire.
We all watched in awe by the display of fantastic draw bowling from both our girls. It truly was a great contest. The girls were going shot for shot with neither gaining any ascendency right past the half way mark.
Patricia dropped a four and Billie went 2 shots ahead. Then Patricia collected a four to nudge her way back in front. Wow the spectators were really appreciating the battle.
Patricia was really giving the chewing gum a workout. She played with great confidence and self belief. While on the other hand Billie started to be a little wayward with her length on a few occasions anyway. Patricia however was able to capitalise given the slightest opportunity and started to creep away. Also whenever she was down a shot or two she played that little bit of extra weight to take back the shot. Finally whittling Billie down to take out the match 25 – 15.
Well bowled Billie but this afternoon was not to be yours.
Congratulations and very well done Patricia Tan, District Singles Champion 2016.
