2023-24 Minor Pairs
We had mixed weather over the weekend of the 15/16 July for the running of the 2023-24 Minor Pairs. Saturday was warm and as perfect as it gets, while Sunday was cold, grey and a bit showery. However the bowls were hot, and we had a great competition on our hands.
Rounds 1 and 2 were played on the Saturday giving us our four semi-finalists: Jo Gates with Dom Giuffrida, Peter Geftakis with Graham Gates, John Cormio with Mick Rawlings and David I Smith with Peter Nixon.
The semi-finals were both tough battles and the scores didn’t really reflect the quality of the bowls from all teams, but in the end, Gatesy and Rawlo won through to the final on Sunday afternoon.
Gatesy got out to a solid start, however Rawlo pegged him back and then took the lead 12 – 10 on end 12. It was pretty one sided from there as Gatesy won the next 7 ends in a row to take out the win 22 – 15.
